BOC’s growing Safety Products business is helping to raise funds for Red Cross projects across the UK and abroad.
The company’s latest Safety Products Catalogue, issued last month, contains over 8,000 items representing the best in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and workplace safety products from across the globe.
With each new edition featuring new lines, reflecting advances in technology and regulation, some older lines are withdrawn or just lose popularity. Over time, small stocks of these items remain taking up space in the warehouse.
“It’s the price of success,” says Mike Pincott, Supply Chain Manager for BOC, a member of The Linde Group. “As a result of discussions with customers, we continually add better and more up-to-date products to our catalogue. These then replace others in term of customer preference. Now, however, we have found a constructive and socially-responsible way of streamlining our inventories.”
The answer was to contact the Red Cross, who were delighted to take these ‘off-catalogue’ items from BOC and raise funds by selling them through their own retail outlets.
“The clothing is all excellent quality and will help to generate funds for the work we do helping people in crisis both here in the UK and further afield,” explained Angela Harding, Red Cross Retail Field Manager. “The support we are receiving from BOC makes a real difference to the help we can give to others.”
