Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a popular process with prototypers and product designers thanks to the processes ability to rapidly convert complex CAD geometries into working prototypes.
SLS processes begin with the 3D CAD data transferred onto an STL file which in turn interacts with the SLS machine.
The SLS process commences with the polymer material powder heated to just below melting point.
The laser sinters the powder through a CO2 laser in an inert BOC Nitrogen gas.
Once the first layer build has been completed, the build platform drops down before the levelling roller pushes fresh powder onto the platform.
BOC provides Nitrogen for Selective Laser Sintering processes via industrial compressed cylinders, cryogenic and bulk liquid vessels or through an on-site Nitrogen generator.
