Cryobank secure biological sample storage facility

BOC Cryobank is a state of the art facility designed by BOC and dedicated to cryogenic bio-storage. Recognising the need to ensure the security of irreplaceable samples, we have designed a service that gives our customers complete peace of mind.

Cryopreservation is the most effective way to preserve biological materials with minimal ageing.

The method involves the freezing and storage at very low temperatures, down to -196°C (liquid nitrogen). BOC Cryobank is a secure facility with a constant unlimited supply of liquid nitrogen to ensure the DryStore vapour phase cryogenic freezers are run at temperatures to -190°C to ensure your samples remain in peak condition.

By storing back up or additional samples at an off-site location should an unforseen incident affect your primary facility the implication and impact of the incident will be reduced.

Features and benefits

DryStore freezers separates the samples from the cryogen (liquid nitrogen) by enclosing the liquid nitrogen in a jacket around the internal sample storage chamber, minimising the risk of sample cross contamination through the liquid nitrogen in standard liquid immersion freezers.

BOC operates a secure facility with 24 hour, 365 day data logging of all conditions relating to samples, with online access to temperature data available to customers via a dedicated website. The facility has round the clock service and engineering support together with full back up facilities.

Risk management

Storing a proportion of samples off-site mitigates the risk of loss due to local incident or disaster, for example a thaw, contamination or other damage. In addition you can be assured of BOC’s quality reputation, the site operates a quality management system which complies with the relevant legislation for the management of bio-samples, license number 12567.

Freezer space can be purchased for single samples, tower units or complete freezer units, thus providing the ultimate and flexible back up sample storage solution.
