For Students
The Apprentice Welders' Competition, sponsored by BOC, is the ideal place to showcase your welding skills. The competition is open to any Apprentice, Full or Part time Learner who is studying for a recognised national craft qualification in welding. Success in the competition could mean progression to international competition level!

The Competition is divided into 4 levels - at each level you will be asked to complete a number of set test pieces.
The test piece material for the first 3 levels (A,B &C) will be low carbon steel and you will be required to use both Manual Metal Arc (MMA) and Metal Active Gas (MAG). The materials and type of weld test pieces for the UK national final will be advised in early in 2012.
The competition is seen as progressive so although the test piece design will remain the same for the early rounds you will be asked to weld it in different position to test your skills. The weld test pieces for the UK National Final may alter.
Your Training Provider will be able to give you details of the test pieces you will be asked to complete so that you can prepare for the competition.
If you are a student and would like to take part in this year's competition, please speak to your training provider and ask if they are participating or if they can register.
