Welding competition

The Apprentice Welders' Competition sponsored by BOC

The Apprentice Welders' Competition is open to all Apprentices Trainees and Full-Part Time Learners who are following a recognised national craft qualification in welding.

The competition is divided into a series of progressive craft challenges. At the first level, the Training Provider can design their competition to suit local requirements or use it to develop additional welding skills. As the competition progresses to Regional and National levels, the competitors are required to complete a number of set test pieces - full details of which can be found under Training Providers.

The 2012 competition hasĀ four levels:

Level A
At this level, the Training Provider decides on the most appropriate welding processes and degree of difficulty to suit their own requirements. To assist a series of recommended test pieces are available, but these are not mandatory. The local competition must be completed 14 days prior to your Regional Final.

Level B
The Regional Finals are between a numbers of Training Providers. The Competitors are required to complete a number of set test pieces details of which can be found under Training Providers.

Level C
The Home National Finals will be held in England Scotland & Wales. The top competitors from the Regional Finals are invited to compete.

Level D

UK National Final - the top finalist will be invited to The Welding Institute to compete for the title of BOC Apprentice Welder of the Year.
