Many car, bike and model engineering enthusiasts occasionally need to weld components and assemblies.
Many small companies also need welding products but not on a regular, large-scale basis. However, renting cylinders with large volumes of gas in them is not cost-effective for these customers. Now, though, the UK’s largest supplier, BOC, has come up with an answer.
The company has developed a small cylinder for occasional users and hobbyists. It costs just £34 plus VAT – which includes a full charge of gas and a year’s rental. The gas costs £16 per refill.
Argoshield Light is an odourless shielding gas ideal for MIG welding and for using with thin-section alloy steel (including stainless steel). The two-litre cylinder contains enough gas for almost 50 minutes of continuous welding at a flow rate of 10 litres a minute. The cylinder package is also very easy to carry – it has an easy-grip handle and only weighs 6kg when full.
Argoshield Light gives excellent arc stability with minimal spatter during welding. In addition, the oxygen content in the gas mixture means less welding wire is needed.
BOC’s SME Manager, Vanessa Atkinson, commented: “As the largest supplier of welding products in the country, we want to ensure that all users have the right products for their needs. We’ve developed this new package for customers who want smaller quantities of welding products. We are confident it will be a real success.”
The new cylinder package is available at selected BOC stores and agents across the country. For the nearest stockists, please visit: www.BOConline.co.uk/argoshield-2litre.
